What is GTVP?

Ghana TVET Voucher Project (GTVP) is a project under Ghanaian – German Finance Cooperation Co-financed by the German Government through KfW, implemented by the Council (now Commission) for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET).

Approach

GTVP provides demand-driven training vouchers to COTVET-registered master craft persons, their apprentices and workers. The vouchers are used to fund competency based training (CBT) courses in COTVET–accredited training institutions and the assessment and certification of National Proficiency Levels II and I under the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTVETQF).

Target Group

Owners of small and medium enterprises of the informal sector as well as their workers and apprentices. Specifically,

  • Master Craft Persons (MCPs)
  • Apprentices
  • Workers

The Project objective

To improve the access of the target group to demand-oriented TVET, which meets quality criteria with the aim of improving the access to decent employment.

GTVP finances CBT training in the following trade areas:

  • Beauty / Cosmetics (Cosmetology)
  • Consumer Electronics
  • Automotive repair
  • Building Construction (Welding)
  • Garment / tailoring/ dressmaking
  • Plumbing Furniture making
  • Electrical installation
  • Block laying and tiling
  • Catering and hospitality
